About the Panel:
Sabi Perez graduated from RADA in 2018. She has experience as an actor, teacher, director, facilitator, and coach.Sabi’s acting credits include Maria in Kenneth Branagh’s All is True, The System, and Understudy Emilia in Othello at the National Theatre, Prospero in The Tempest at The Orange Tree Theatre, and Olwen Peel in Dangerous Corner during a UK tour.In addition to her acting career, Sabi teaches at RADA on the BA Acting and Short Courses, as well as at The BRIT School and internationally.

Role Preparation with Mel Churcher

This workshop will include some practical confidence work, as well as thoughts, ideas, and games for role preparation. These are suitable for stage and screen, as well as self-taping.

About Mel Churcher (She/Her):
Mel Churcher has been an actor, a theatre director, and a voice coach. She has worked with many theatre companies, including the National Theatre, RSC, Manchester Royal Exchange, and Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, where she was in the voice department for 12 years. Now she mainly works with screen actors and runs international screen acting workshops. She’s coached on more than 65 major films & TV series (see imdb.me/melchurcher). Mel’s written three books: Acting for Film: Truth 24 Times a Second (Random House), A Screen Acting Workshop (Nick Hern Books), and The Elemental Actor (Nick Hern Books) She holds MAs in Performing Arts (Mddx) and Voice Studies (RCSSD).

Acting for the screen with a working high-end TV director – looking at casting, preparation, being on set and post-production – using scripts that this director has directed for BBC and Channel 4.

About Amanda Boyle:
Amanda Boyle is a director known for her films: Kursk (2012)Skirt (2012) , Pop Art (2008) and Hotel Infinity (2004) and for her series TV that include: Chloe (2022) and Cast Offs (2009). From a young age, Amanda made her own theatre shows, acting and directing and then touring with devised plays and comedy as a student. She joined Working Title Films as an assistant and worked there for several years on the production of films that included Billy Elliot. At the same time, she began to experiment with making short films, producing and directing. These won her several awards at Film Festivals. Picked by Channel 4’s Coming Up scheme, Amanda moved to direct series television, alongside her own more experimental projects. Amanda has been a Screen International Star of Tomorrow, a Clore Leadership Programme Film Fellow and a Berlinale Talent Campus alumnus. She has also directed award-winning commercials and has been named ‘Best New Director’ at the British Arrows Advertising Craft Awards. Amanda has mentored through the Creative Mentor Network.

Ivana Chubbuck Q+A – Chubbuck Technique

In this Q+A with Ivana Chubbuck, she will briefly explain how she developed The Chubbuck Technique – a 12-step acting technique based on psychology, behavioural science, and cultural anthropology. Attendees will have the chance to submit questions for Ivana when booking their tickets.

Introduction to Video Game Performance

We take a look into the world of Video Games. The types of characters and stories you may find, plus the different ways of recording you might experience and what teams are looking for in a performance.

Adele Cutting is a BAFTA award-winning audio professional with 20+ years of experience in audio direction, designing sound, music editing, casting and directing actors and covering all things audio across games, TV, installations, mobile and VR.

Spotlight Success Sessions

As we look to expand how we offer our advice sessions, we want to reach as many members as possible but still keep sessions familiar and personal. These sessions will be run by Customer Success Manager, Mel Brown, and will not be recorded, they are a safe space for an open discussion.

About Mel Brown:

Mel studied Drama at Loughborough University, before heading into the industry and interning at a number of places including Hubbard casting, the National Student Drama Festival and a number of performer agencies. She then took up a full time job as a young performer agents assistant at YAT Management, where she remained for five years and worked her way up to being a Junior Agent. In 2016 she moved to Spotlight and started on the membership support team as Membership Coordinator and then moved to Senior Performer Executive. Mel then became part of a new team where she undertakes the role of Customer Success Manager for performers at Spotlight. Mel specialises with members who may be feeling a little stuck in their career and wants some to give an objective view on steps they can do to enhance their Spotlight profile and gain more traction from Industry professionals.

Stress and anxiety are common mental health concerns, especially for freelance performing artists often juggling a portfolio career with high-pressured auditions and performances. This psychoeducational workshop is for actors who might be experiencing a negative impact from stress or anxiety. It looks at the differences between stress and anxiety, the common signs and symptoms, what might be causing them, and some practical strategies and techniques to help calm the mind. There will be pause points throughout for questions and reflection and where to go for further support.
